Ahhh that reef. If you pay attention to the tide and don't get greedy avoiding the reef is not a problem. And if its borderline depth you can just foil on the outside of the reef. JJ would love it on a strong easterly the downwinders are epic. I have been out there when you can't see your buddies sail over the next swell.
But the answer is yes and its my fault for not switching to my 85cm mast or loosing track on where I am coming over the reef. As it has high spots. Also when the tide is low I should sail down to Ka'a which has a gap in the reef and is the preferred swell riding spot for wingers. I am just too lazy to sail the 500m from Lowers to Ka'a
Oh, I am lucky that I am not a good enough foiler to notice the impact on performance all the gouges in my foil have. But it sure is fun!
