I have a LP FRS with the stock front wing of 940 cm2. I weigh in at 200 lb. That wing works fine. Sufficient lift and speed. With the adapter I also have the 1300 cm2 wing, which I rarely use. With the 940 wing, I can easily get speeds of 22 mph, which I can never get with my SAB gear.
With the original FRS design you connect the carbon fuse to mast by sliding the fuse into a hole fitting on the mast, then locking in place with a bolt. Everything is carbon. No aluminum structural parts.
In the later RS design the fuse to mast connection is more conventional.
LP was pretty much the first to come out with a carbon foil in the Gorge in 2016. They say half the Gorge learned to foil on LP gear. And yes, there were reports of vibration at high speeds. This is from Gorgecup racers who used the LP in downwind slalom races. Peter made some 99cm masts with extra carbon reinforcement to mitigate the vibration. I bought one of those from a Gorgecup racer. I never have experienced the vibration.
The other solution to the vibration problem for the racing was the AFS-2 in 2017. I have one of those also. With its monocoque (one-piece) fuse-mast, it is the stiffest foil out there, still today. No vibration at all, but she sings like a diva.
The AFS Wind95 foil with F1080 wing makes a light whistle sometimes when overpowered (ready to breach at any moment) really a warning that you are overpowered, but the F770 and S670 wings are quiet.
But is LP still making windfoils? Not seeing any at Sailworks, and only a kitefoil at some other site.
