I just spent a week at that spot Greg is the first one out last one in and his 2.8 does gets a regular workout. That place is high wind foiling to the extreme I took a 3.4 with me and Wizard 114, at times it was like learning to foil all over again takes a couple of sessions to get used to the crazy gusts that come through. Water 55 F air 60 felt good in a 5-4 wetsuit with hood.Needless to say it does not get crowded.

What percentage of the time do you reckon Greg was uphauling versus waterstarting?

Not much uphauling from him less than 5%. He would be on his 3.3 and me on a 3.4 he is about 72 kg and me 82 I would have to wait for a stronger gust to get up and I am still trying to sort out my water starts on small sails and thick tail foil boards.

The location is Lake Mojave, on the Colorado River south of Las Vegas. I first met Greg there two years ago in late January. Boy, has he ever improved since then. Wow.

He is there right now. Two friends of mine from Seattle are also there. About a dozen on the water, they say. it's a great place to "escape from the winter" to without having to go into Mexico. About a 1,250 mile drive from Seattle if you go down through the high country of Nevada. 1,400 if you go down through Oregon and California.

Warm air, cold water. Need neoprene. Very windy.

How cold is the water 50s, 60s?

Lake water is supposedly about 54 deg F this time of year. When I foiled it in January two years ago, yes, it felt like about 50. You do need a wetsuit. You will bake in the air, but a quick dip cools you off.

You can try to find the water temperature at Davis Dam, but it is hard to ascertain whether that number is from water coming through the bottom of the dam or the top.

Similar to our temps in the bay this time of year. Warm air is good for the hands I guess. I am rocking gloves currently.
