Hey, I am looking my first foil board. I have two options to buy: rrd pocket rocket 122 and jp hydrofoil 120. Which board will be better for first foil and be more developmental?

Most JP riders use footstraps and faster foils.
The 3 RRD Pocket riders I've seen all go strapless and wave foils.

I have the JP 120 (I have had every one of the JP hydrofoil boards) The 120 is a nice size, It is floaty enough to be easy to uphaul and it flies early but it is also small enough to not feel too alien if you are not used to wide boards. It suits a wide range of foils but some foils like the Stb super cruiser have too much lift for the board. The strap positions on the JPs are not as far forward as on some other foil boards so you can struggle to hold down a high lift wing. It is a board that can be flown in a upright cruisy manner or a more sporty racey fashion.

I have a rrd wh Alu set y25, it will be fit with jp hydrofoil 120 2020? Did you learn foiling on jp?

I did start on the original JP 135 then I used a lot of other boards and then went back to JP last year. I am 95kg and the 120 is a nice size, I have the 105 as well but only tend to use that with sails under 6.0. The 120 I use with sails 5.0 - 7.0 I then have a JP hydrofoil slalom for 6.5 to 8.6 sails.

I have RRD Pocket Rocket. I like the board, but I'm not sure it's good board for beginners: it's short and very nerves board due to short distance between mast track and foil box.

Either way the JP is probably best.

With thin wing, it's freeride wing.

I have also Starboard formula 167 wide, maybe shuld I start foiling on this board? I'm a little worried about the fin box.

How much do you weigh? The foil has a flange so unless you are very heavy your formula should be fine.

Box can handle 70 mast and sub 80 kg rider with m to small wing.
Otherwise you need powerplate

Yes, you can start foiling on your formula board, but dedicated foil board will work better. JP probably will be best for you.

You will be fine.

I have been using a stock formula board with a foil that has a flange. I weigh 95 kg. It's fine. In fact I will be foiling with it today in cold Florida.

I don't use foot straps. It is 120. My weight is around 185 lbs.
