Considering buying this type of board for foiling and would kindly like some feed back and experiences from owners who have tried the 135 or other sizes.

Absolute best board for windfoil.
Should cross over to learning wing.
Not so great for windsurfing.

JP135 is quite popular where I sail, GC Qld
All construction options are ok, but my personal preference with FWS because it offers a good balance between weight and durability
I have both 135 and 150
I use 135 with freeride and Slalom foil and the 150 more recently on the race type foil
I'm 79-80kg
Lots of other foil boards are also very good, availability is the biggest challenge and may determine what you end up with
But yes I would say the JP135 is a goodie

Is there any problem for not having the track when you try to use for wingfoiling?

Fantastic board in my opinion. I only changed it when i went to full racing foils and wanted the extra width. I used NP Pinkie foils and then Starboard GT-R foils on that board with great results.

I don't do any wing wing foil or windsurfing on these boards, so not able the answer regarding that

Like TK, I have the 135 FWS and could not recommend it enough. I use it with the SB GTR+ foil but I imagine it would work with a wide range of foils, race, and freeride. A great all-rounder.

wunderful Foil-Board, but not for conventional Salom-Windsurfing.
Used a 6,3 Tempest and 7.0 M7 from machine.
Flied very well with the AL Flight Al 2. Gen.
The Pro Version is a bit sensible (very light and not very tough skin).

I had the JP 135L for a while but sold it because for me at 80kg it felt like windfoiling on an aircraft carrier! It was fast but didn't have the exciting foiling feeling I get from smaller boards.

Does the 135 feel too big after owning it for it a while and that you now prefer a smaller option...or is everyone generally happy with their choice.
I'm 77kg's and an experienced windsurfer but have only been foiling on a conventional slalom board for a season so want to make sure I end up satisfied by getting the correct size.

That kind of volume is great to learn on and great for someone that plans to run bigger sails and faster wings (the JP135 has more outboard straps which is good for that too), or if you plan to use it as a lightwind foil board. I think everyone needs a lightwind foil board and they either go to the fin or a smaller more agile foil board when the wind picks up.

If you plan to have only one foil board that you can learn on and use in a variety of wind and swell conditions something like the slingshot wizard 114 might be the go

So get the JP 120 if you want the smallest possible for now.

I have the 135 that I use with a NP pinky and Severne red wing. It is a bit big in my opinion for the red wing and suits the pinky well but dont buy a pinky, they are hellish to learn on. I'm 70 kg and 174cm

The updated 2021 v2, shape is a great allrounder, as a one board option with freerace type foil set up.
its not too large, and the 2021 nose is quite thin compared to V1.
Takes sails from 8m -6m easily.
pigmented resin finish doesn't chip as the v1 did on the rails,
v2 has black footstraps so don't appear so dirty.

Negatives
the only painted area on the nose, chips!
the footstraps are further back on v2 so to balance with the np foils...
didnt balance with the Starboard 95 plus fuselage...too much front footed.


my advice would be
careful with the foil balance
and perhaps to get a large foil board for freerace and a smaller one to freestyle with

For those owners with a 135, what would be the approximate wind range versus sail size to get peak performance from this type of board for someone around 80kg.

I have the JP FWS 135 version with a Moses 85cm carbon mast and 1100 Moses wing.
No complaints here, JP is floaty and stable enough to uphaul when needed. It's light but not overly fragile. Rear foot straps were a challenge to get into when I first started using it so I removed them until I felt more comfortable on the board then put them back. I have tried to windsurf the board a couple of times but due to the mast track being farther back it really wouldn't balance well with larger sails.


1100 Moses is almost like having pitch control on auto pilot. I rarely use my 790 any more. with this foil and a 7.3 sail I can usually get up in 8-10knots. I'm ~85kg

I'm about your weight I use
7.3 in 8-12 knots
6.0 in 12-20
If it blows harder than that I'd rather be windsurfing.

The best days are the ones that start out breezy enough to run a 6.0 on a short board then as the wind decreases in the afternoon putting that 6.0 on a foil board and finishing out the day.
I can pretty much cover 90% of my sailing with 2 boards and 3 sails these days.

I'm 92kg and use the 135 FWS with a 7.7 V8 from 8 - 10 knts, really sweet from around 12- 16knts then change down, have used it with as small as 4.2 just for fun on a flat water in 25+knts.

I've an AFS wind 95 with F800, S800 and S700 wing works really well with this combo and also pretty flexible for some chilled out riding on a no cam sail with the big wing or more freerace style with cammed sails and the smaller wings.
