- protection strips on the lower sail batten
- extra protection (kevlar strips) on the seams at the bottom of the sail
- extra reinforcements on the mast sleeve at the cambers
- and the bottom panel is from X-ply instead of just monofilm.

So if they're similarly priced get the IQ imho. Severnes are falling apart fast enough as they are, dont have to help em out getting the lighter version.

I have to be honest I'm a heavy user, but I had both a Severne Unit and Severne TurboGT fall apart on me. The Unit lasted about one year (60 sessions on it I think), the Turbo did 5 until the stitching started tearing up at the battens and I sold it after 10 because I lost confidence. Have since switched to S2Maui, as light, if not lighter, but a lot stronger in construction.

A lot of my old racing mates are now doing the international IQ races, they say they use the IQ sails only for about 3 months maximum before they switch to the next one because at that point they're no longer competative.

I recently bought a Foil Glide 7.0 after reading recommendations for it here, and love it. My expectations were high, but the sail easily exceeded them. The other fact that made me go for Severne was that my Severne freestyle sail (Freek 5.6) is holding up very well. It's also very light, but is holding up better than other freestyle and freeride sails I had. I had close to 100 sessions on it, which is the point where panels often need to be replaced, but it still looks good.

I'm generally very skeptical about marketing statements, but Severne really seems to know how to build light sails.

Mine has stretched some, a lot of sessions since April.

Only damage so far has been that plastic guard over the batten tube on one of the bottommost battens. It came halfway off, tearing the stitching and splitting the batten tube open. Tape has fixed it for now.
