Hey guys, if you are going through the fuss and bother of editing and producing such as nice video as the one above, how about adding the overlay gauges that show your speed and track in real time. All the GoPro cameras beginning with the 5 Black have gps built in. Turn on gps in the settings. The gps data are embedded in the video file and are easy to edit into the output with the software.

My gopro way too old, but maybe there's a way to sync gps data track from phone to gopro video(post process) ?.

I'm not keen on tracking speed on every vid - speed is not the focus, turning/carving on the swells is much more fun.
Before foiling I spent 5 years down the rabbit-hole of speedsailing and in no hurry to go back there


Here's an example of speeds for a fairly typical session playing around riding small bumps, not pushing it.
SW 15-23 knots.
Freestyle 87L board, Phantasm PTM 830 wing and 103W mast.

Yes, you can sync any GPS file to its associated video file with such software as Dashware (free) or Race Render (modest one time fee). I have successfully synced various MOV, MPG, MP4, AVI, and WVF video files with various GPX, NMEA, and FIT GPS files. (In the case of FIT, Dashware works only for FIT v1; most devices now produce FIT v2.)

The challenge with this is finding a recognizable spot on the video and the same recognizable spot in the GPS file. Usually a sharp jibe works for this. Or, better, a crash.

Before I started using GoPro, I used to sync the video from an old Contour ROAM camera with a Timex GPS watch. It worked well.

The nice thing about the newer cameras with GPS built in is that it is all pre-synced. The software above recognizes video files with embedded GPS data.

20 knots on foil seems plenty fast to me. and How about only three crashes per session

Cool, thanks. I'll check it out. My max in the I76 so far (Ive only recorded a couple times), was just under 18knts. Plenty fast for me.
