They just use the 800 wing for the slalom foil racing..

So smaller wing, same sail and board.

Do they do both course and slalom irrespective how strongly its blowing or do they just do slalom when the wind is light?

They just use the 800 wing for the slalom foil racing..

No they only have the 900 in the IQ setup. They can use a 95 cm fuselage instead of the 115.

They try to do the slalom in the lighter breezes. But it's still manageable when it gets stronger with the right stabiliser setup.

The idea is two course races for every one slalom race so sometimes the slalom will be done in stronger breezes.

Just from the highlight clips, it looks like in slalom, if you aren't first to the mark, you better follow someone who isn't likely to blow a jibe. Saw a few third places become lasts at the first mark.

Ah yes i forgot this is the IQ series where they only have the one wing (900mm). I was thinking of PWA where they can change.

Impressive that the UK youngsters doing amazingly - Islay Watson currently 6th and 17 yr old Finn Hawkins currently 14th. Much younger than the others around them and mixing it with PWA and RSX veterans

This may not be the "world's largest windsurfer class"? but given the current economic and travel environment, it's a great amazing turnout and to see such cross section of the world's best windsurfers must be satisfying to the organizers and everyone who promoted the idea of hydrofoils and the class.

Kiran spoke of having to nail the shifts on the marathon race. It appears that, contrary to some reports, tactics are alive and well in foil racing.

One of the reasons i love foil racing is its a return of sailing tactics, as opposed to slalom which is a follow the leader type course.
