Hi,
I tried my IQ foil set up few days ago and today. I understood at race foil need more power/speed before they will lyft up. Whit my Superflyer I can pump whit back foot and then will fly directly in super light condition.
Like I wrote I will mostly use my 6.9 sails.
I hade last Saturday a session with really gusty conditions 8 knots wind with 16knots in a gust(short gusts max 2 sec.)so not really easy to know what to use. Anyway I tried 115+/1000/255 in the beginning then 115+/900/255, sails 6.9. A lot of pump, and then in a gust was overpowered. I hade -1 spacer.
Today hade a good session with more wind 16/20 knots.
I started with 115+/900/255 and -0.5 spacer, I felt like to much drag but not to much lift. The board touched the water sometime. I use to have a steady flight with my Superflyer and always really high, so compared was not the same. A guy how have been foiling for few years, recommended to test 105+/900/255 and move back 2 cm my mast base. So It was less drag and more comfortable 105+ fuselage actually, after 35 minutes I change front wing with 725 and was even better. The fly was stable, comfortable but a lit a bit low. I hade 0 spacer. I needed for sure +0.5.
Anyway my conclusion are at my 115+ will work better with bigger sails. I have 7.7 but I didn't try yet. My 105+ fit good with my Freeride 150(85cm). 95+ maybe will use on the future.
The wind was strong (for me) and I think I don't need to use minus - spacer, but it is better to use 0/+0.5/+1.
If I had used my Superflyer today I probably had a -1.5/-2 so is very different to compare IQ foil spacers.
I took 2 pictures with mast base position for 115+ and 105+ , so next time I will have that in the same position.
It will be easier for sure soon to choose right fuse/spacers/wing
