So I noticed at the beach that the front and rear wings on my AFS W95 foil were not aligned, rear wing was definitely off. Used two "straight" levels to check wing alignment see pic. Made a shim out of plastic, 0.15", to get rear wing perfectly aligned with front wing with one AFS shim in place. Trimmed plastic so I could just see it protruding from the wing/fuselage junction. The AFS foils with the 88 cm fuselages have a narrow mounting area for the rear wing. Can check levels for straightness by holding together and looking for a gap between the edges with a light behind them. Obviously, you also check the floor for level using the bubbles on the levels and pressing on ends of levels to see if they rock.

yeah, that works if the wings are aligned, but if a wing is out and you want to shim it back it helps to have a more accurate way to see the alignment before and after shimming. When I say I got it perfectly aligned, I mean to less than 1/100", could not get it that close eyeballing it.

Just hit bottom with my foil the other day. Just took the paint off, no structural damage. Who knows, perhaps mine is a little out of whack too from hitting bottom twice now. Although, it still foils well. We're in a drought this year. Didn't know our lake was as low as it was. Oops!

Hey, all the foilers with aluminum fuselages should be checking after an impact, and that is like 90% of foils at least. As for AFS, still a great foil with the misaligned rear wing, just even better with the wings perfectly aligned. It is not like I was have a hard time getting up with the rear wing out, but aligned it did improve my upwind angles and wind minimums, how much? not huge but after 2+ yrs of foiling I can notice the difference. So thought I would let foilers know.

It is like you got a new car with a 6-speed trans, and after 2 yrs someone says it has an extra gear, did not miss it because you did not know it was there, but now you have it it is great.
