Nicolas Goyard did 37kt 1s peak in 18-23kts of wind! 33kt NM and 28kt 1hr average!

on 350cm2 front wing and 6m sail..

Traditionally I thought normal slalom is much faster than foiling once you get to around 20kts+ so interested to know from some speed sailors what they would expect in similar wind speeds... not to mention that the foil is much less sensitive to water conditions.

Hopefully they release a video so we can see how hard it was! But with those numbers sounds like he did it easy! Americas cup yachts are super efficient, and probably well over 40kts+ and sailing better angles, so it will be interesting to see how close windfoiling can get.

Looks great. Especially when just on the leeward foil. The strength of those components is amazing.

I thought the average slalom racer, on 7 meters in 18-23 knot wind would easily top 38 knots in flat water going downwind.

Foiling is slow.
Just open your eyes and LOOK at what's going on in a real world.

350 sq cm foil sounds cool.
My bud mostly uses his 450 sq cm front, but he's around 140 lbs..67 kgs?
I use my 600 sq cm foil in the lightest days..well under 13 in the peak gusts, with a 6 meter sail.

I did all my top speeds when it was feeling really slow and my worst speeds when it was scary.
So I stopped going fast and just go for fun

I'm a weekend windsurf punter on the GPSTC and my best 2sec and 10sec speeds of 2019 are on par with Nicolas's speeds, but mine were done in 30+knots of wind! In 23knots the best I would be getting would be in the 32-33 range with 6.6m2 sail.

There are results for approx 1700 sailors dating back to 2007? on the GPSTC , my ranking is approx 500 to 600.

The 28.49knots for the hour is the real stand out number. That would put Nicolas's result in the top 10 of all time GPSTC records in that
1 hour category.
