I've been sailing strapless since I snapped my fibula in May of '21. I've become pretty used to it and the biggest drawback now is carrying the gear. thedoor lent me a pair of Slingshot half straps, but I can't get myself to screw them on. The biggest reason is the if I have them in the configuration Azymuth does above, I still think my fibula still would have broken: the foot needed to twist to the outside to relieve the stress but couldn't. Have you tried the straps reversed? That is, pointing out instead of in?
Yes, I tried the rear half-strap pointing out - it works fine except you lose the advantage of easily shuffling your foot back in and out of it.
After an ACL reconstruction I'm trying to protect against future inwards internal tibial twisting so I think the straps work best for me this way. It's a guess, I'm not a physiotherapist.
Do what seems best for you - I much prefer half-straps than strapless especially when the ocean gets big or it's super windy.
One final thing - the straps bend open/upwards with reasonable force applied, that could be a saver too
