Hi, after finning it for the last 40+ years I'm planning on giving wind foiling a go. Current weight: 90 Kg

Board: Goya Bolt 137 (2022), foil ready

I will start with the board that I have. Now I've layed my eyes on a GA windfoil

1200 frontwing, Mast 85 cm., Fuse 90 cm, Stab 303 cm2

Any people any advice or experience with this foil (or even better Board/Foil combo)

Foil looks good the only thing I would consider is if GA is going to provide ongoing support for their system. If you like that bolt for finning I would recommend getting a cheap dedicated foil board as the nose ain't likely to look good after 6 months of learning to windfoil

Thanks for the input. It will just be an introduction to windfoiling. Once I can see the potential, and master it slightly I will go on the hunt for more dedicated gear. Of course I would want the Bolt surviving my attempt but I can live with the risk as 2nd hand gear over here is not very much in demand (neither is new actually).

Are you buying the foil used or new?

I am looking at a second hand 'new' one but if that doesn't work out I would have to look for new. Any recommendations?

If you go new, maybe look at the Zeeko OEMs like Simmer, Patrik AIO, etc. or Zeeko themselves. Other options are Slingshot, SABFoil. These ecosystems will give you more wing options as you progress. Slingshot is getting out of the windfoil business it looks like but their wings still work for windfoiling and are cross compatible in many cases with SABFoil. There are more options but this gives you a start. The GA Foil is fine for what it is but if you decide to go smaller wings, you have much more limited options. And, you will likely want a longer mast in time. 85s feel "safe" when you start out - fall from a lower height when you foil out - but as you gain experience and go out in windier conditions, 85s can foil out in chop much more easily (especially mid jibe) and give you less margin of error.

If it's all you can get your hands on and at a good price, I'm sure it will be serviceable but if it's closer to a new price, think about what your likely progression will be and what gear you would like in those conditions. Are you more of a 'freeride" soul or like to keep up with your fin buddies?

Thanks Paducah, will look at the foils you've mentioned. No racing on my mind, just a bit of free riding for now.

Back again...... A Severne Redwing (Foil: 1400, Mast: 90, Fuse 95, Stab: 350). Would that be any good?

A good solid foil, better if you can get the 1000 front wing as well.

Not being upgradable is a minus.

Thanks, I found a second hand one (Redwing) relatively quite affordable, should be receiving it next week, let's see how this will go.

Will have a look out for the 1000 frontwing
