Has anyone foiled on Perth Water (front of CBD) ?
I have never seen anyone do it and wonder if it's deep enough.
Probably more suitable for foiling than slapping due to the wind flukiness.

Haven't foiled if before, but have been out on slapper gear there. Not sure i would foil it, theres plenty of shallow spots. some friends were on formula gear at the time and finding the bottom with formula fins.

Very flukey like you say, but still fun sailing in front of the city.

I foiled from Point Walter to the Old Swan Brewery last summer. It does get a bit sketchy once you get past Pelican Point. I did toy with sailing further into the city. The wind wasn't super strong but constant enough to stay on the foil.

In the middle of the Perth Water (body of water between CBD and Como) the depth is charted between 0 and .7 meters depending on tide.

It gets deeper again past Heirsson Island and I have seen what looked a foible section of river around Burswood were the race track is. The wind seems to funnel into that area in certain Easterly directions. Not sure what the water quality is up that way and how many bull sharks are lurking.

Agreed, it looks too shallow for foiling and too flukey for slapping, except maybe a strong Ely.
The area near Burswood looks perfect for foiling and slapping and the wind really does funnel through there as i cycle commute daily through there and the water depth good.
It is, however, the water skiing HQ so i don't know if sail craft would be allowed there?
Other than that, perfect with no real boat/yacht activity and close to home with nice parking and grass rigging.

I am thinking of the area further North past the stadium and bridge. There is a beach area on the west side and it's completely flat towards the East due to the race course.

The area near Crown is a problem as it's a water skiing area and I believe motor craft has priority in that area.

I have foiled regularly on the Brewery side of the freeway narrows bridge on W and SW , launching from the Jet Ski beach walking out gear adjacent to the small groyne down from the ramp.
Water depth is fine, but best to stay within the markers laid out to the south as there are a few submerged shallow reefy bits that will ruin the ride and foil surface.

The small swell that rolls through makes for fun carving when it gets over 15kts.

Just go from Foilville. It's been proven a great location. From there go across to the brewery around to Applecross and Pt Walter. Heaps of area to explore with other slappers & foilers. In front of the city and ski area scream frustrating wind to me.
