I am curious about mast position on foil boards. As I've mentioned after my two attempts at foiling (www.seabreeze.com.au/forums/Windsurfing/General/Wind-Foiling-my-second-time?page=1#10), my board feels like the mast base and or foot straps can't be set far enough forward.

So, how far is the mast track from the tail of your new foil board?

My iSoinc 121L has the mast track around 1300 to 1400mm from the tail, and the front footstraps are 800 to 900mm (aft and fore screw holes). For completeness, the front screw for the fin is 210mm from the tail..

I'd be interested to see how this compares to the new crop of foil-boards...!

There are no EXACT measurements that fit everyone.
Generally around 3-4" behind what you use for windsurfing.
But it depends on your weight, skill, WHERE you had placed your footstraps, your height, your preferences, and I"m sure a few other criteria.

LeeD, I appreciate there is no exact placement, but what I want to know is if the position of the foot straps and mast base is even close to a purpose built foil board, or too far back!?!

Berowne, On a dedicated foil board all the fittings are actually further back than on a standard slalom board.
Rear foot strap screw approx. inline with rear fin bolt. Center of mast track approx. 127cm from tail of board.

I have mine mostly back at around 125 or less...I only move forward if I need to kill lift.
i also have my boom really low..
you can adjust lift by raising and lowering the boom as well...
everyone is different and will set up different as well..
