First time posting here!I have a question for you guys. I am in the market for a dedicated foil board and looking at local second hand (I live in NYC and there is not much in that respect) I have found a Horue Tiny 110L 2019 (205x75cm) and a Slingshot Freestyle v1 115L. The goal is to freeride/freemove in light winds with my moses 790 and my largest sail is currently an Idol 5.2 (might go bigger in the future). I kind foil jibe, not very consistently, and I want to improve there and get to 360 and that type of carving. I am tempted by the horue, given my other beloved board is a 95L flikka freestlyle-foil which I learned to foil on, but it seems like the dt box on the horue is really far back and the mast track really far fwd. is it really meant to work best with horue foils? or am I getting tricked by the proportions I see in pictures? On the other hand a lot of people here seem to love the SS but might be even to extreme for my goals and might loose a bit of performance in light wind.Any advice from experienced riders on those boards is welcome!

Good questions.
Slingshot is about the most trusted brand in US at beginner to advanced windfoiling. The 115 is targeted to riders 60-85 kg, and your 790 is the same size as Slingshots i76. The sail mast base is closer to your front foot, so it's a more common freestyle setup. Lots of guys transition to winging on that board.
Horue is euro, and the French do things their way. Obviously works, plenty of vids showing freestyle moves. Box farther back can be offset by fuze that places foil farther forward or adding shims to stab
I favor twin track for all foiling except for speed. Moving the foilmast even 1/2" can make a huge difference.

Both great boards but very different. The horue I feel is a bit more user friendly shape and the SS115 more radical shaped.

Couple of my foiling buds back in Dallas had these boards and i would jump on them from time to time and I always felt the Horue was better suited for light/medium winds and the SS115 was a carving powerhouse and the more wind the better it felt under foot, but that might because I'm a heavier weight foiler around 200lbs.

Like you said the Horue has Tuttle only and the SS has twin tracks and tuttle so you get much better micro foil adjustment with the SS.

If the Horue is the right price you can get a set of tracks put in it. Would make a solid winging option then too.

@CoreAS thanks for the video and comment. I am 75Kg so a bit lighter but also Tiny might be a better option for my level and riding. Otherwise I might need to wait for a wizard to become available, but it is unlikely, here in Long Island everyone Is meet is winging. Only a few left windsurfing and just of a couple of us windfoilers. Maybe I am not going to the right spots..

@Grantmac, that could be an option for the future for sure, just need to find someone that could do the job.

Basically my fear for the Tiny is that my foil will need a lot of back foot pressure to take off and keep flying in lulls, which I do not like, and then I am stuck with a poor fit between board and foil. The video shows that it works with a slinghshot, so maybe there is hope.

Is your 790 Moses tuttle or twin track?
Been using Naish Hover 122 for 3 seasons now, tried Micro, SS Wiz 125, 105, FS 115 and 105, RRD 125 PR, and several 85 liter JP Freestyles with NP Smalls, besides course race boards with HA foils.
All around, at 72 kg but in 55 degree water in spring/summer, I like the 122 Hover. Might like the 125 Hover, but haven't tried it.

The Tiny takes off very very easily, the back straps are right over the foil mast. The SS115 the mast track is quite far back which is suited for freestylers that need instant pop on the foil as well.

Bruce the guy in the video is around 75kg, if you have the SS hover glide foil just set it in B position and that's it!

@LeeD and @CoreASI have the standard moses windfoil from 2019 with DT head and 85cm carbon mast , 790 wing. Not sure how my fuselage compares to hover glide in B Position.

It sounds like it should work with the tiny but wondering if I should fork out for something like the wizard 114 and buy and adapter for dt to tracks for now. I tried buying a flikka foil specific but was quoted 450eur for shipment and decided against it.

As D said what type of moses mast do you have? The slingshot freestyle 115 is a great board but it has medium tuttle so a deep tuttle moses mast does not fit so great.

On my freestyles I used the hoverglide in tracks and then used the ghostwhisper (compatible with moses) medium tuttle. But now I am using the moses 92cm pedastal mast. I love the tracks as it allows you to keep your straps and mast base uniform and move the foil track for different foils.

You are right about being concerned about being too backfooted, it can really kill your low end. But you can use shims if you cannot move your foil to alter the lift.

Never tried the horue.

Have a friend aboout your size who sails the Tiny with Moses 720 and 1100 wings. Each wing is shimmed differently to balance out. He sails it from about 12kts and up preferring it to a larger 140 l foilboard. He's gone through Horue, Slingshot and finally Moses on the same board which has held up well.

oh maybe, but I thought one my buddies put a deep tuttle box into their slingshot wizard so they could use the a moses mast...

@thedoor, given your experience, would you say the freestyle is a good light wind boardalso for intermediate riders, or is it too technical and requires great pumping compared to something more freeride oriented?

The title of the board means little.
Actual volume, width, tail width, rail thickness, weight, and rocker all affect planing-to foil.
115 Freestyle is very close to my Hover 122, a bit more turney, but similar in light wind.

@LeeD Indeed I am not making it about labels, but about riding style. The outline and tail on the freestlyle is completely differnent to something like a wizard 114 for example, so I am expecting them to behave differently, even if I assume they have similar rockerline and thickness.No idea about the hover 122 you have, but the older ones I see here in long island , don't have much to do with current slinghsot offerings in term of shape (much thinner tail for example). Hence why I am asking opinions about how a board rides and behaves . So is the hover good in light winds?

You are using a Moses 790...1500 squares. And you're light.
As long as your board is over around 95 liters, your 790 starts to lift waaay before the board starts to plane.
Boardshape hardly matters.
If you were running a 600 sq cm foil, then Wiz would get you up sooner than freestyle. But you're not.
And sail power plus pumping factor in.

Hover with 600 and 210 takes a fair bit of power to lift. Almost like windsurfing on the Hover.
Hover with 2450 would fly at 5 mph with a 5 meter sail in 7 knots breeze, for our weight.
