Hi all,

The title sums up my issue. I've just bought an NP Flight Al 2019 to put into a Starboard Formula 159 I'm restoring (pictures to come when I finish!) and it seems that the included screws are too short to reach the tuttle head. Am I doing something wrong or are the included parts just not long enough? The head protrudes about 2mm from flush when I put it in the fin box. Apologies if this is a dumb question but I haven't used a tuttle board before.

Formula boards have a lot of empty room on top of the box so the bolts that come with foils generally are too short. My starboard 160l formula needed 14.5 cm long screws or something like that. You will need to take some measurements so the bolts engage properly.

Why a foil manufacturer even includes tuttle head screws in the kit does not even make sense. There are many different tail thicknesses on many different boards out there. You have to get what works for your assembly.

As you all already know, every company comes up with their own depth for deep Tuttle.
So....most "deep Tuttle" are DIFFERENT depth between different companies.

Some do to fit their brand's boards. Makes sense if say you are buying a Starboard/Fanatic/Slingshot, etc foil and board. I'm sure that someone on here would complain if they didn't as I've seen people meow about less. For the price of two screws wholesale they help keep their customers happy.

The irony of the Pryde in this case is that the threads are machined into the aluminum head so that the threads start at the top (assuming it's the same head as the Glides) so the screw length required is less than foils with barrel nuts.

The first few prydes used to be imperial thread as opposed to metric which is standard in the windsurfing world, thats why the original pinky and bluey got the screws delivered with them. Using metric M6 screws would kill the thread in the head.

Dont know if thats still the case with the glide though.
