I've been struggling with the length of my harness lines for a while. I started shortening them up, but still had issues. I wanted longer ones for 'slogging', but needed shorter ones for foiling. I was watching recent PWA foiling race footage on Youtube () and ran across this idea.

You have 'slogging' lines and 'foiling lines. It works extremely well!!!

Measurements for reference . I think the smaller lines are 20 inches.



I'm also trying out a waist harness (Been in a seat harness all my sailing career), and the spreader had this little pulley. It works extremely well for moving forward and aft in the lines! This is a great little gem for foiling. I sailed today using this for the first time and with variable weather, I was able to slip the sail forward and aft with no issue! it helps with trimming the sail much better than the hook. And I can get out of it easier.

Hope this tip helps! After blowing my arms out with the longer lines, I can finally use both very well for each purpose!

Seems one out of 4 Formula sailors used double lines each side.

If you foil for longer you'll start to move back to your normal line length once you learn to hang your weight from the sail and lean out more without the board toppling over. I'm back to 30" for foiling, while i do 28 for slalom. Was at 24 in the learning stage of foiling.

i'd sooner use the double lines to have a set further back for the upwind and a set further forward for the downwind, but I'm pumping the entire downwind anyway ;)!

Amado is using double harness lines (footage is from his cam). Shorter ones for upwind, longer for downwind. Position on the boom is the same though.
