Thinking of looking into a custom windfoil board for next year. Love my Levitator 150, but would like something about 3" shorter and maybe 2-3" narrower. Hopefully keeping the volume at 145-150L yet. Would these dimensions make it feel to "corky"? I still want to have a board I can comfortably up haul, but going 2-3" shorter will make it fit easier under the topper on my pickup truck.

I'm pretty much an advanced beginner/intermediate wind foiler.

6'4" and 225lbs Any suggestions as to who makes custom boards?

Yeah, what miamiwindsurfer said. New models have either arrived or are about to. Have seen pics of the new boards and Alex has focused on early takeoff and gotten good reports.

I like the looks of that. Earlier today I remembered a guy who makes Reef Warrior boards in Ohio. He's about 6 hours away from me. I contacted him this afternoon. His boards are pretty cool, but heavily geared towards WWF as he puts it. Which is Wind Wave Foiling. Since I'm not huge on the foil mast to UJ distance of the Shred Sled, I asked if he could do something with the 14" tracks that would possibly give me something similar what he currently does, while still being able to move the foil farther back light wind days. Hopefully that makes sense.

I'm hoping to give the new Tillo design a try once I'm back down in Florida. It does sound though, like you might be well suited to the RRD Pocket Rocket 200 or even the 180 with is supposed to be 76cm wide. Both should be uphaulable if you don't mind the stance with both feet aft of the mast. A little heavier than they might be in the less expensive construction, but Tillo's boards aren't all that light either unless you ask for that specifically. My carbon 91 CM Custom (which I asked him to reinforce) is 24lb.

Love it. It works perfectly with the go foils. Very turny and fun in the waves.
Great release for takeoff and it bounces off the water in touchdowns.
The whole setup is wave orientated so I can't comment on flat water.
I have sailed it with a sw flyer 8.2 but the sail is to big and locked in for that setup. 4.0-6.4 wave sails work great.
The board is very well built. Light and tough. I've sailed it 40+ sessions and not a mark on it.
Highly recommend it (and Casey is great to deal with!)

The Tillo at 156L looks really nice. I love the option of outboard foot straps or being able to have them close to the centerline, similar to the shred sled. I wonder, is the foil mast track and sail track at a distance that's similar to the Shred sled as well? I'm not a big fan of everything being so compact yet. Having the option of keep them farther apart while I learn would be ideal.

Great to hear that! I may end up keeping my Levitator for light days and distance cruises.
I'll be using Axis foils on it at this point. The BSC 1120 and 1060 and most likely the S 1000HA.

It has the tuttle box far aft to allow the use of a race foil in freeride mode. At 200 lb I can easily uphaul it. Being a Roberts custom, it weighs nothing. Those look nice! I'm adding them to my list of options.

Roberts does make great boards, the workmanship is top notch. Things like reinforcing the nose to the point I have never had an issue despite many crashes.
If you have not gone through the custom process its fun being able to tweak the standard design and graphics.

I saw his stuff on the Sailworks site. Pretty sweet boards. There was also another custom board maker too I believe. I'm going to see what Casey at Reef Warrior comes up with first. His boards are along the lines of the riding style of the Shred Sled. That kind of riding appeals to me, but so does the riding style of Azymuth. Unfortunately our waves on Lake Michigan probably suit shred sled style riding more than how Azymuth rides.

Your right Willy Rob is a BIG GUY. He wishes he was 200lbs . He is closer to a solid 250 and 6'6" and would slap me for giving him a hard time. He was/is always one of the fastest guys on a windsurfer and appreciates the challenges of a full sized human. IMHO he is a bit of a carbon fibre genius, as much of his work is out side of board making. I believe he can make/do anything with carbon fibre but builds boards because he loves it. He is located in Vancouver Canada and if you are in the US the current exchange rate is about a 25% savings.

Is it ridiculous to think I can get a custom that can blur the lines between a Shred Sled style board and something like my Levitator 150? I think I've seen long foil tracks, like 14" long. I am wondering if that would give the flexibility of having the foil mast and UJ close together like the Shred Sled for cruising waves, but also be able to slide the foil mast back and get something that performs similar to my Levitator when there isn't much for waves, or I want to go for a longer cruise? Maybe there's an advantage to riding with the foil mast and UJ so close together?

There has to be some compromise i reckon but long foil tracks are the way to go for sure. Having different foot strap options is the most important thing to allowing a board to go from freerace to freecarve. Tail width is also important. I tried to set up my freestyle like a freerace board and i couldn't stand lateral enough in the rear to really load up the sail.

Compact geometry does have advantages but it's also an acquired taste.
If I was getting a windfoil board built I'd use the new 16" Chinook boxes for both the foil and the mast. Not much extra weight for a whole lot of adjustment. They are also very robust.

Compact geometry is more manoeuvrable, i.e. better for freestyle moves and carving on wind and ocean swell and hence work better with small sails (<= 6m) and 1500 to 1000 front wings.

More compact = More reactive(less stable)
Of course there are compromises. If your learning, in super gusty conditions or simply want to go fast then you want stability.

Less weight through the mast base, so changes in sail power don't affect the trim as much. Plus generally offering greater maneuverability.

More compact means difficult to uphaul, easy to clip a wave and crash. And I personally would avoid tracks for a windfoil, a foil approved DT box is super solid as is a foil DT mast head. Do not see anyone on the PWA with tracks! If the board is designed right for the type of foil you are using, the sail mast track should balance things out. Long sail mast track is good.

In the photo above, take a close look at the location of the fin screws. They are way back there, fully aft of the back footstraps. This allows the board to run a race foil that has the wing further forward. You can foil this as a freeride setup.

Most foil boards have the front fin screw at about the mid point of the back footstraps. This is normal freeride geometry for freeride foils.

Flikka? they make an outstanding job and they are relatively cheap, especially now with the Euro so low. flikkaboards.com/boards/foil/ This is mine, 2019, 117 liters, 77x208. Very light and strong! They can build it any way you want.

Love the flame paint job on the Roberts, next level for a sport that's already next level.
