I have fanatic stingray 140 and starboard 95 mast and fuselage and 900 front wing 330 rear . Would I gain anything ( and if so what ) by switching to the 95 plus fuselage ? I also have the 800 front wing but have mainly been foiling in lighter winds and using 900. Would 95 plus getting me going earlier and remain in control longer by switching stab angle ? Thanks

Yes, significant increase in range.

I just ordered a GT-R plus setup with the 95 plus fuse for my Stingray 140 yesterday. The shop measured the distance between mast and front wing for the 95+ and 115+. We concluded that the 95+ setup would be quite close to the setup I currently use, after adjusting for differences in the front wing size (SS i84 vs. 800) and track position vs. tuttle. The 115+ would have put the front wing quite a bit further forward. So I went with the 95+. It will be a few days before I get the foil.

How much difference does the 900 front wing make relative to the 800 for you in lighter wind? Have you tried the 1000?

I only know the difference between the 115+ and the 95+, but there is a big difference there. I think there's only a 2" or so difference between the 95 and 95+ front wing position (vs 8" for the 115+ vs 95+), so you would be getting some more performance and stability without it being impossible to reach in moderate-higher winds. It should lift a little earlier with a little less pumping.

For the 115+ I start losing my ability to reach due to so much lift, and have to dump power by going upwind or downwind. Unless it's a light wind day. But I'm also using the 900 front.

I actually haven't used the 800 as yet as winds have been light since I bought the board / foil . Haven't tried the 1000 but thinking I should have got that instead of the 900 . I've now ordered the 95 plus so hopefully the 900 will now be fine .

Having the 800, I bought a used 900 a few months ago. I my opinon I don't think it lifts significantally earlier than a 800. Therefore the 900 is even more stable and a bit slower as I felt. Windrange is still good / similar to 800.

The millennium wing is absolutely the best for marginal foiling conditions. However once the wind speed increases a little it does start to feel draggy.
the 900 whilst it loses out in it bottom end, it does feel a lot faster and can be taken into much higher wind without it feeling as though someone's got the brakes on. So it's definitely more versatile.. I think it's a slightly more refined foil shape.
The 800 feels like a great change down wing..as it's quite reluctant to fly when underpowered
so the 900/800 is a great combination

Isn't that what shimming is for? Since the plus fuses allow for shimming the stab, if you reduce the stab down angle with a shim, supposedly the lift is more constant over a wider speed range. It will require you to add back foot pressure, but I think that is what you want.

I shim my Moses Race foil (with 110 cm fuse) for exactly this reason.

It helps, but only so much. I'm still experimenting with all the things you can do. That 8" between 95+ and 115+ is a lot, especially in 20+kts

The 115+ isn't designed to reach, it's designed for maximum VMG.

Here's a direct comparison of the front end on the 95+ and 115+ fuses:


The 115+ puts the front wind about 3 inches (7 cm) further forward than the 95+. For comparison, the difference between B and C position on the Slingshot fuse is 2 inches (5 cm).

That means the tail wing on with the 115+ is 13 cm further back than on the 95+, which gives it more leverage. Overall, the difference in lift should be quite large.

I'm loving my + fuse. Although I had the 115, going to the 115+ has allowed me to lift earlier and go faster. I'm almost at a 0 degree stab angle, and the weight distribution feels the same as the original fuse. My foiling jibes have been even better too.
