on another note, as I have thought all year-Carrissa rips but she is just about guaranteed a high 9 every time she paddles out!!!
sally underscored in the final Carrissa given a 10 for great barrel big turn and fell off, Sally barrel smaller but longer big turn and completes 9.2

Yep agreed, i watched it on replay and a very entertaining heat. I think Sally was under scored but i still say Carissa took it out. Sally looked great though and next year may be a different game, lets hope. As has been said that place looks so much fun and i just love the goat track back up to the event stage..

I think that's pro surfing comps in general these days
Carissa is the world champ so that will generate a bit more awe and points just for paddling out.
Its becoming disposable viewing.
Watch for five minutes to see who's more popular, I mean winning then change the channel.
Thats taking nothing away from the surfers though

nikki was ripped off in the 1/4 final as well . her second wave included a nice little tube / big cover-up and heaps of big turns .

then coco gets a slightly bigger wave , no tube half as many turns ....... and wins !!!!



surfing contests are like ice skating contests ....... same problem with judging , they are to frightened to give the well known competitors a bad score !!!!!!

The judges shouldn't be throwing out 10's for a wave where someone falls but I guess if you look at some of the other girls getting 8's and 9's for linking a heap of weak turns together then look at the power of Carissa's carves they don't have much room to move. I reckon sally's surfing is as critical if not more than CM's but she lacks the power to really smash it. Definitely one of the best heats I've seen this year though - men's included

I would HATE to see Sally put on weight/muscle to increase her power game!!!

Even the commentator was saying how much Nikki was on a tare
Coco's wave was was good but no barrels
Nikki got two on the one wave
I almost couldn't give a toss about Pipe coming up
Look out for the extra points from a big Brazo claim
