I confir with the doog. Its possible to get a desent tube out there when its on. People write it of due to the fact it needs a bit of swell and there fore doesnt break that often but when it does it takes a crew away from other spots.
Its a shame there arent more artos along that stretch.
Im stumped as to why the hell you'd even bother wasting the time and money building it there??? WHy not put it a bit further north where it cops more swell????
i think it had somthing to do with the trucks rocks and how far the tug boat would go if they had to ship it to lets say hale rd we would still be waiting
surfing ramps is a new company setting up to design the future of surfless places help promote him as if he gets the green light from monetry sources and councils etc, so do we....
Oi Chronic, one of me mates emailed and said you mentioned my site www.surfingramps.com.au which includes an article on Cables and photo's. As mentioned in this thread, the reef has good waves - when/if it breaks - which is rare, maybe 15% of days per year are surfed - at max. Next to zero in summer and mostly in autumn/winter. I reckon the reef is toooo deep, we need to make it more shallow to get more surfable days per year. site also includes: 10 Steps to build a surfing reef Burkitts Reef in Bargara (reef renovation in 1997) Narrowneck (some contentious stuff updatd shortly) and best of all - naturally occuring "bommie-assisted-beachbreaks" Andrew Pitt BLarch(UNSW) Surfing Reef Architect
