Fisheries are calling it a "Marine Creature" interaction for the time being

Its rather obvious what attacked her board IMHO

Glad she was okay, shame about the board though as it looked really cool..

She said there was a pod of dolphins in the area.
Maybe she dropped in on one of them.
Some might take that sort of thing very seriously.
Well,.. maybe not.

There are no teeth marks in that board - not one.

Any chance a dolphin could have hit her board hard?

While I am certainly not saying that she is full of 5hit, that picture suggests absolutely zero evidence that the damage is from a shark bite.

Bite marks on surfboards pretty much always have a series of punctures outside of the normal bite radius due to the nature of how shark teeth are aligned (or not aligned), especially in the lower jaw. The image shows the bottom side of the board which would most likely be where you would expect lower jaw bit marks to be seen. The damage in the photo just looks way to clean to be from a shark bite. Orca bites however are different as the teeth are well aligned...but even then, the radius of bites in orcas have a far tighter parabolic curve due to the nature of their jaw shape. It looks like a tricky one and I guess I shouldn't look to deeply into a low res photo on a news site. Having said that, as a betting man, I would put money on it not being a shark attack.

Fisheries are now saying it was a shark, but can't confirm the species. The only thing for me was the large damaged section that indicates a point hit it first. Could that have been the nose of a GW and it just broke and the board tore the glass from there So I'm saying no teeth were used, just a bump from underneath

The State Government won't want to admit it was a shark. Especially after just announcing they are removing most of the budget for Shark Research and early warning system like tagging..

Great timing especially after they just spent millions confirming that the Shark Shield works 90% of the time. That research is doing wonders for the company helping them to sell the product to United States market..
