your waiting in a line up with about 15 crew on an epic point break ,the guy next in line paddles for a wave but cant get on it even though you could have !then paddles back to the front of the cue does he still have priority with only 1-2 waves coming through every 10minutes.

Na if he couldn't have gotten the first one probably should have called someone else into it, otherwise next wave is still for another bloke.

No! If you make a definite attempt to paddle for a wave and miss it that's your fault..

I find this so frustrating, and yet it seems to happen a lot!

Can vouch for this happening where I surf a fair bit, summer waves with 1 maybe 2 wave sets with 10-15m intervals.

Puts a bad mood in the line up when someone does that, if there are a few doing it the whole attitude tends to become ruthless.

I learnt the hard way about that rule by copping a spray when I did it at the time just did not know, once I was educated about that rule make a real attempt to stick to it, if I am on the inside and paddle for it and miss it, have a laugh and move to the shoulder to keep order.

It should be back of the line.

The other one I have an issue with is sitting to deep, not making the section and then going back and doing it all again and again and again.

All the time calling people off who are sitting in the right spot.

If you paddle for a wave and miss it then its back to the bottom you go.
When I see people do this where I surf I make it vocal by saying "back of the cue for you mate".
Most the time they are euros or blow ins.

Yeah i tell them all the time, Back of the que..

I will say kids aren't getting taught etiquette these days. I find a lot of Boogers have no idea and if then if they jump up to a board it all goes to **** for them. The Other problem though is surfers if they don't give right of way to boogers than you wont get the same back. SO what comes around goes around.
I spend a lot of time explaining surf rules to my kids. Especially if we are in crowded line up with a louder than usual voice

at my usual spot it's actually the opposite and thank **** for that as when it happens to you it's all good, does depend on the spot though, loss of priority at every other location. The real test is when it's just you and a mate, funny how the rules don't always apply, but what are mates for eh

Yeh I'm all for back of the que. I think if someone does it once it's alright. But once it happens a few times it gets annoying.

There is something rather satisfying about dropping in on a mate/brother and giving them the finger. haha. As long as the banter goes both ways, and it isn't on an actual decent wave.

Well done bro...there are heaps of kids around where I live who have zero clue...doesn't matter how good a surfer you are you should still give respect to get respect....

It all depends whether it was me who just missed the wave or someone else.
