In late 1979 Morning Star Surfboards produced the first Tom Carroll model - as SB suggested.

If you decide you want to get rid of it let me know - lots of work in the restoration - will be a fun project. Do you think you will just patch it or sand back and put a new hot coat on?

Hey guys... I was born and raised in Santa Barbara, California. In S.B. there was a surf shop called "Morning Star" in the late '80's through at least '95. I think I remember Tom Carrol as being a local surfer in S.B. I would guess that is a board shaped by somebody in the Hawaiian family called Puu... they owned Morning Star surf shop in S.B. They probably were a sponsor for Tom Carrol when that board was made.

Hi Maxxhew,

Tom Carroll SB local, sorry mate from Newport Australia.
Morning Star started from Narrabeen, Col Smith Narrabeen, Northern Beaches NSW. In Garden street premises. Before it burnt down. Glasser brewed a hot batch and up she went. But that another story...

You are right... I had the name Tom Carrol mixed up with Santa Barbara local Tom Curren. But there was a shop called "Morning Star" in my hometown. I thought it may have had some kinda connection... but the name was wrong. Anyways, have a good day.
