Kearnsy, thanks for the info. I'm interested in the basic cost $$$$$ of materials cos I'm about to order a new board from a high profile name maker, which I seem to do about every 3-4 yrs.The difference in $$ from the big named shaper and my local shaper is $155 ($600 AS APPOSED TO $755) .Not a great deal considering the guru shaper knows his stuff, has done all the R&D and has big over heads .

Hey lucky I think I put prices up in the post I did for one of the shortboards I built. Probably 3 or 4 pages back by now if you want to have a look for it, would be the non carbon board.

Of the top of my head blank was $90ish, fins and plugs where $90 had it shaped on a machine $70 or so spend maybe 15 on sandpaper. Resin and cloth really depend on what you want and where you get it.

In NSW marineware and fgi are good places to start for resin and cloth. I think www.shapers.com.au (think that's right) does a full kit with blank, cloth, resin, and the rest of the bits and bobs. google is your friend when it comes to finding stuff. You can check out www.swaylocks.com for info do it's a shapers forum run out of the states.

I made a seven foot singo for about $270 that was for a cheap blank glass and resin I made the fin myself. Labour was intensive.

That's why I spent the extra $70 on the machine shape - worth every penny if your a diy'er also lets you get the shape down in the program first with out torching a blank. I know it's cheating but it's worth it all it takes is a 10 min sand before you glass.
