Yea just lost my licence so thinking of hitting bali in the hope of getting some waves. Cant get anywere local with out licence so thought that might be my best bet. Is there still plenty of places to get away from the crowds?

Maybe you should save your pennies for buses and trains

Welcome aboard mate but a bit of advice, you will get out of SB what you put in so maybe a bit more than two lines may have saved you from the red thumbs

Sorry cant help with Bali info..

Yeah theres heaps of places to surf in bali mate ya just gotta go searching really! this season has been a little funny weather wise ( lots of rain)
But its all good this last week was pretty average then friday arvo a swell hit and there was good waves all weekend and into today! seems to be another swell coming aswell.... in my opinion lots of places get very busy when the swell is small then once a good swell hits people spread out a little more so theres plenty of wave on offer!

Bet bet is to get out and have a look around most places are easy to find and there are lots of spots to surf that are less busy ya just gotta look!
Get a scooter and go searching mate!

Enjoy

50 thou is enough, when you get pulled just tell them to take you to the police station worst case they will tell you to follow then pull up 5 mins later and ask for money then you give them 50 thou and its sorted, its too much paper work for them to take you there......

Ive lived in bali for a few winters and been going there for 10 years and never ended up going to a police station

Thinking of grabbing a scooter next week when over there and exploring west of canggu up to balian and medewi - haven't been through this part of the coast before - is it worth the trouble? Any thing worth looking for along there? Don't have to name any spots just would like to know if it's worth my effort - thanks T

Both medewi and balian are great waves and yeah there are heaps of fun waves along the way, just get on the bike and search it out!
i was in medewi about 8 weeks ago and surfed it 4 days in a row at 3-4 foot was so fun! Not a hard wave to surf just good fun! one of those places that just makes you smile and the locals are cool as, you will end up buying a boardriders tshirt and be a member for life haha

Enjoy mate

Have fun with the traffic!!
Plenty of breaks , depends on what you're after. I was after long soft lefthanders and got a few.., and crowds aren't too bad either.. nothing much to do, but surf , as you're away form the kuta crowds, but that suited me.. Balian catches the swell better than Medewi, but totally different break.. so do a little homework on swell forecast before you take off.

Thanks for the heads up - not fussed on the waves as long as they are better rides than where I usually surf ( and sometimes that's not hard ) - as long as it's fun I'm all good
