Thanks Prawnhead, intelligent analysis from Shaun Thompson.

As for the sub six boards Chrispy, I love em - the more the merrier. Half those dudes are struggling to even catch a wave, so more for me

I think in the interview sums it up.well. To get more drive, you need more rail in the water, more rail in the water is not gonna come from a sub 6 fat board. I found it intresting that kelly got his inspiration from Mike Stewart. Makes sense,if your kelly.
Watch how in the heats last night how they struggle for drive. They are doing 10 move bottom turn just trying to get speed. I'm sure you can work the rest out

Mmm sub 6 boards.
I have one that paddles like a dream. Wouldn't surf anything else around home. Love a good 6'8 for when waves get bigger though.

I have a 5'9 that paddles almost as good as some of my longboards. Super fun board to surf,in sloppy mush, fat gutless crap, even in nice long point in waves.

But when it comes to something decent,or a wave where ya have to cover some ground quickly, give me a bigger board anytime.

I surf with my bigger boards against the Pro copy boards,or the midlife crisis crew who are grasping to their youth....I know who gets more waves and makes more sections than them

Hear ya Chrispy. Paddled out on my sub 6 in double overhead barrels a couple of weeks ago..could get into to waves easy but it was skipping out when trying to drive off the bottom. Such a fun board for head high and under though. I like how it fits into the curve of the wave better than longer boards.

Yesterday was a layday I'm hoping they kick it off today. I can't believe it didn't run yesterday.
Matt wilkinson is paying 5 bucks to beat slater in there heat. I put 10 bucks on wilko, there's a carton on the line. I reckon he may beat slater. Run the event.......

I read somewhere its a Nature reserve and Ski's are not permitted. But then their was a jet ski floating around with camera crew so I'm not sure

They are super fit boys thats for sure, even Tom Curren when he did the run around was actually running Occy looked like he could have used the ski though..

I really enjoyed the J Bay event in total

Yeah I agree it was the best so far this year in my opinion. I just thought it was a bit of a waist having to paddle when they could of used the ski. I suppose it adds another dimention to the event.
