Currently building a wood strip foam core kitesurf board and would like some tips on glassing and how much weight it is going to add.

Board is 5'9" x 17" bottom was put on at 4mm and top at 5mm thick, current weight is around 6kg but still got a lot of material to come off as i shape the rails down ,what weight glass and how many coats recomended for that construction and roughly how much weight will it add.

Just been doing some googling.
Polyurethane coat pre glassing, pros and cons ?
I had been thinking of doing a filler coat, epoxy wood flour mix to fill any tiny holes and as a base sealer pre glassing, thoughts please.

with timber and balsa boards i usually sand a heap of the same colour timber and mix it with the epoxy resin for filling minor cracks and holes.

give it a few coats mate....nothing worse than getting that resin reaction that some times occurs over wood...I ve done a few balsa boards and given them a couple of coats of polyurathane with no problems you can give em a coat of resin but I thought the poly was easier...light sand between coats...if its western red cedar you might want to give it three coats...its a kiteboard give it some glass around the foot pads
