The one I have built (shed hack) I have used expanded, with a timber skin (2-3mm) vac bagged over the top, light strong with plenty of flex. The 10 year old Bert Burger sunova I have in the shed is expanded. The fire wires are expanded I think ?

There was talk of problems with the blue extruded delamming, but there are a few people using the blue extruded foam with no problems. The extruded doesnt suck as much water, the expanded sucks it in so dings must be fixed staright away.

To be honest I went down the 'research' path when I was recently in the market for a new board. Only conclusion I got was to get an epoxy and surf it to find out for myself.

For every positive comment there was a negative one and the reasons vary from the type of wave people surfed to the way they feel under foot to just what people are used to. Get a hold of a good quality secondhand one and give it a red hot go.

I got one recently and have found good and bad about it, it does somethings really well and I can also see the some issues. I have not surfed it enough to make up my mind yet but keen to keep using it til I do

if you want performance boards you have to be prepared to look after them eg at least use a good ding tape or solarez dings as you get one

i found to get that spring you cant have the same laminates both sides !
also it would be a nightmare to colour match for repairs. i do the woodgrain on bothside of the longboards only .

A serious question, do you do SUP boards? Would rather support a local than a factory knockout rice grinder

I reckon he could do something 1000x better than a generic mass-produced sup. Go in and have a look at the redwood veneer long board he's got in there at the moment. Or his bamboo skin boards.
