I have a bad habit of breaking or creasing boards and so I'm looking at buying a dhd sweet spot 2.0 which has thicker glassing than most boards. The 6'2 is 32.5L. I'm 85kg and so i like extra volume in my boards for paddle power. However in the shop the board definitely feels heavier than other boards of equivalent volume. For those that have tried this board, does the extra weight/thickness compromises your paddle power/wave count?

I picked up a SS2.0 in August - 6'1 @ 30.5L (I weigh 72-75kgs) and have ridden it a dozen or so times since. I went up 2L on my previous 6'1 with the aim of using it as more of a short step-up board that gets into waves earlier and also handles late/steep drops well. After my first few days of surfing hollow 4-6 foot waves around Margies, making takeoffs I typically wouldn't and riding out of more tubes than I had in the previous few years combined I was pretty smitten with this board (still am) and very happy with my choice. Love the combination of thickness through the chest, a pulled in nose and thin rails near the tail. I can see why DHD described it as a great one-board quiver if you could only take one board to somewhere with decent waves, and I can't wait to do exactly that with it.

Unfortunately I'm yet to learn how to perform aerials under my own steam, so the extra glass/weight hasn't been an issue for me and is reassuring when surfing spots known for snapping boards. Might also be worth considering for your size the 6'3 @ 33L which is less wide but thicker than the 6'2. Another similar board worth checking out in the shops is the Pyzel Ghost - I think they offer different glass options.
