any advice on the best way to get well stuck on deck grip off ?

Any solvent that removes contact cement (the glue you'd resole shoes with, or glue down carpet) - try mineral turpentine. Do NOT use acetone - that will damage the board finish.

Wax & grease remover, get it from repco. Spray can is easy.

Get the Oxy out and the "bbq mate" , give it a good scrape..

If all else fails - hammer and a chisel!!!

There`s a couple of groms in my shed at the moment trying to clean off a pad they originally stuck on with Tarzan Grip,
