Dion sometimes have seconds for $40 - you need to constantly drop in to get them though. Where are you based ? I would not worry too much about the price of the blank.....your wastage from other parts of the process can easily exceed the differential in the blank department

Yep as Doggy says, Colin Earle distributes burfod blanks and will sell you a blank for way less than that.

Hmm well Col sold me 2 blanks and a set of FCS plugs and it was more than $300. (6'3 and a 7'7 and 5 sets of FCS)

Was just wondering if anybody else was selling blanks in WA or even making them.
I met a bloke years ago who was setting up a machine to blow blanks in perth but I cant recall name. (was at a boozy BBQ)

Yes the burford foam is amazing, but paying over $50 more than the equivalent blank cost over east seems a little unjustified.
I'll still buy my resin there and odds and sods for convenience, and I do like to support local, but everyone has a limit to how much "local support" they are willing to give.

You are looking at around $100 for a 6'4" Burford blank in WA. Cost go up for thicker stringers and as the blanks get bigger.
Not sure what they cost over east but when you consider the time, labour and other materials you are putting into the board you are making yourself it really isn't worth using an inferior blank. I heard of someone selling a container of cheap blanks in WA a year or two back but by all accounts the foam was real crap.
I think we are fortunate to have access to the best blanks in the world at a reasonable price.

I know, space is the problem as I said before. Ive cut the outline of one as well and dont want to finish it because I changed my mind on what I wanted to do

Doggie just shape it and finish it to hone your skillz. Then get the next one perfect. Less thinking and more doing I say.
If you need a shaping bay i might be able to rent mine for beer.

Col's prices vary a lot as to who you are and if you have an ABN or not. For the regular punter off the street he can be pricey.

Colin does seem to set prices by your car and timepiece. Borrow a mates **** bucket to drive and get rid of the fancy threads before seeing him.

This sounds like the deal of the century Doggie - go for it ! You might even get a helping hand when you glass it and learn a few tricks sanding. Go for it.

Time to finish the one I started.

I was trying copy a Gunther that I had 6,2 x 18 1/2 x 2 1/4 before my back operation. After my op and recovery I fould that board to hard to paddle and the blank stayed in the roof of Dads shed. I was thinking of making it up for a mate who is much smaller than me
