Have been reading a few online articles about Parko's victory which have comments by readers and also some other forum sites.

Quite a few go on about Parko getting overscored and surfing safe through out the year.

I had the pleasure of watch him at snapper in a free surf and to say mind boggling is an understatement.

Massive through the lip fins out the back turns and that on rail cut back and rebound was jaw dropping.

It left me wondering are these people watching the same thing as me or have they ever seen these guys surf in real life as the web does not do it justice.

Many comments have been either from Slater fans or Brazzo's so it could be just that one eyed supporter thing coming through.

I reckon he was overscored late in his semi final when his back was against the wall and he pinched a couple of smaller waves and got 8's.

Any surfer on that tour would be jaw dropping to watch in person while freesurfing, so seeing someone surf awesome freestyle to justify high scores in a heat is a bit much!

Good on Parko though, would of always been a shame if he never got one, bit like occy getting one late that was good thing(no KS that year though i think)!

Parko's efforless style makes everything he does look easy so that could be misread as "surfing safe" IMO. Maybe these people commenting are the same ones that think pulling an air reverse or two on every wave is ripping. I'll take Parko's open face carves over the standard reverses being thrown every five minutes on the QS circuit any day

As slater said at the pipe prize giving.

"i had a few goods and a few bads, parko was consistently up there".

Im not 100% sure, but am i correct in saying that he was the 2nd person ever to not win more then 1 event and still claim the world title.

says CONSISTENCY in black and white

I don't follow the pro tour much & couldn't comment on peoples scores...but I was so stoked when Occy won that year. He'd been getting me amped up for a surf with his vhs video "Pump" for years. It was an awesome comeback & yeah pretty similar situation with Parko...I'm stoked for him : )

Well said, are these negative comments from people with any professional judging experience,I'd say not!
Some could say he played it safe but he was the most consistent guy on tour this year.
KS is an outstanding surfer the best I've every seen, but like many I'm sick of this freak winning I hope he retires so the next few years of the tour will be anyone's to win interesting times ahead imho.

I have watched the pipe masters back in detail, and he deserved to win every heat he won. He scored some really deep tubes when under a lot of pressure.
This whole subject is BS - the guy has just beaten the greatest surfer ever and all people can say is he was overscored!

All I want for Xmas is a ......

But I reckon Parko surfed good all event, won all the heats I saw including the Damo one IMO, sure he had to scrap but getting through heats isn't always pretty but I reckon he did enough, as someone else said sometimes he makes it look to easy sometimes. And he was defiantly the most consistent all year, great results and finished it off with a pipe masters...

I cant fully comment about backdoor as I have never surfed it but to say Parko in his semi "pinched a couple smaller ones" I think under plays what dredging waves these were.

I have surfed a lot of waves where the best ones hold up and take so much water off the reef and then go round on the inside. They go under the guard of the main pack.

Many years ago I was surfing a well known right in the south west and thought I was killing it sitting out the back chasing the larger sets with most others. Then I came in, sat on the stairs and watched Jake Patterson hunting the ones that held up and he was taking off deep but well in from the pack. He was standing in full kegs while the bigger ones while great waves were just a wall.

The last wave of Parkos which got a nine something was just ridculous.

And mac I think Fanning and now Parko would say there titles are that much sweeter for having beaten Slater so I hope the freak sticks around.

Now about Taj .....

Dont at all agree with that, you sound a little like you came second to someone all your life?? Or suffer the good old tall poppy syndrome.

Parko was interviewed saying how much sweeter the win was knowing it was against a red hot Slater, when asked if titles won while Slater wasn't on tour are tainted he wanted to agree. As competitors they want to compete against the best, as spectators we should also want to see the best. I guess while 1000 people follow KS around the beach, you could walk in the other direction cursing him for being too good.

KS is so far on top of his game it isnt funny therefore he deserves every success that comes with it, Parko was super all year and got the result he deserved. Hope to see KS rack a few more up now that Parko Finally Fuc k ing Won

He does make hard things look easy...but also tends to be a little conservative in heats but this works for him as he makes fewer mistakes...something perhaps Taj could learn from...good on him..he deserved it...now if Taj can win in 2013 I would be stoked.

With every success story there will always be green eyed monsters that try and knock the winner/s. Ignore those comments and enjoy parkos' triumph.
