Yep just me, a mate and our two kids. Shoulder high little wedges and nice little running sections. Bloody chilly though

It was just my local and with our two kids so were expecting it to be small. But a few waves pooping through were loads of fun. The boys after an hour wanted out so i drove them home and then back in for nearly three hours all up.. Don't forget I'm easily pleased

Never even new there were waves that far north. Of course I haven't lived in Perth for 20years and Butns Beach road was still a country back road with overhanging trees and potholes then.

Thriving community now. City's growing fast. Big storm coming tomorrow ah winter

What a start to Winter!...that was the best first week i can remember!!....fair dinkum.

They don't want swimmers. There has two drownings in recent history. Two plaques just out of picture to the left

It does get super sketchy, either from the rips in Summer or those crooked hand sections of limestone that stick out in Winter!

Underrated metro option IMO, have to pick the time to go though, pretty fickle eh JB.

Didn't know they ended up calling it that, I surfed there occasionally through the 90's when I came up to visit the olds up that way. They almost built there in 1989, but settled for Beaumaris. In summer '97 a big fish jumped out of the water & knocked itself out on my board. I grabbed it & my girlfriend (now wife) took a photo which is in a collage of photo's on display in our lounge. Unfortunately the fish tasted pretty crap

It has its moments, but yeah you've got to get it in a good mood. Biggest issue is its young mans wave as its rather quick Having said that it was crap tonight

definitely had some good sessions there and they were heavy on a solid WNW swell

Nope just swimmers. One was an older man in his 50 or 60's . The last one was a young boy from Africa.

It just gets a lot of water movement through their and rips drag you out into deep channels and then onto the rocks. In summer its common to be rescuing kids all the time. Often whilst the parents are oblivious on the beach

One of my favorite waves in Perth and it used to be even better before the marina was there. Shame it's so infested with spongers now.

in 1979 i had just got back from an overseas trip and i was staying in Perth for a couple days with a mate it was winter,he took me to a beach with a groin, for three days this thing was going off perfect wedges and super hollow running down the beach..was one of the highlights of my trip!, does it still get like that, in winter?,a left.

city beach or floreat? they get like that after a storm.

Sorrento and no it doesn't. I saw pics of it doing that in a very old Tracks, three or four lines of perfect little kegs running up the beach.
Marinas are great. I love 'em.

We used to sit on the first ground at Sorrento and wait for the seabreeze to make waves....great fun wedges and occasional long runners on the north side and short pits of death on the south....ah grommyhood.......damned Marina
