Probably munched by it's fellow species. They tend to get riled up.

Dunno mate, just passing along as it was reported to me. I don't buy that it's metro either, way too dark, hence my apparently comment.
In saying that I saw a Bronzie get annihilated at City years ago in the shore break, would've been a 5-6 ft shark, so not as big as this one but taken off clean behind the head. The bloke who was trying to tail it got a bit of a shock when the water erupted around him.

The photo's been doing the rounds. Triggs, Abbey beach, Woodman Point. I got told South Africa and looking at the gear he's using probably a good call. Where ever it is you would be a bit nervy standing in the water cleaning your catch at the end of the session.

Would that have been close to 15 years ago Mick? Remember reading about something similar in the old "Fisho" newsletter that Kurt Blanksby used to put out. That little incident was always in the back of my mind when we were swimming sharks for release in chest deep water on the south coast in the middle of the night :p

Yeah rod looks like a Poseidon hey?

Matt I reckon that one at City would've been closer to 20 years ago. We continued to surf for the first 20-30 mins of the fight and when he got it in pretty close we went in. Good bank too, ruler edged then dropping off quick. He was trying to beach it for ages at the end of the bank but couldn't get it up over the edge, then one of them waded out to waist deep to try to tail it and it swam out another few meters and everything just erupted in a wall of white water. My bro and I just looked at each other slack jawed. If I recall correctly there was another couple of guys out too.
