I am increasingly enjoying the ride of a couple twinnies I've picked up and now seriously considering having one made or buying one. Thing is, I found the traditional FCS fin plugs have snapped a couple times with a decent bottom turn with twin fins such as the MRT Fxs. Hence I am hesitant or not sure if such a system exists that would take enough force and still survive. Honestly I am hesitant on going for built in fins as if I was to damage one, it'd be a pain to get it fixed.

Futures any good for running twins or any other systems out there?

New gearbox system is pretty good.

twinnies are best glassed, I run keels and get the glassed always. im no purest but honestly for surface area and flex just go glass.
to be honest its a real sore point for me buying a board than paying for fins 700 odd bucks for a board and 1-150+ for a good set of fins, most shapers you see would do you one with glass for the 8-850 mark (with change left over) the other thing is too that when you lose a fin from a fin system (unless its the middle thruster fin of a set) its such a nightmare to buy one off that you fork out 1-150 for a whole new set......you can get one madeand glassed back in for that.
unless you are a travelling pro or have to jam 3 boards in a bag get them glassed.
glassed fins on a twinny are not just groovy they really do ride better (by a mile)
i have futures and fcs in all my thrusters and quads but when its a single or twinny its glass glass glass .
Also resale on a good board with glass fins is always more than a nice twinny with a fin system

Razz my biggest fear is if I damage a glassed in fin! And then the pain of having to replace it or get it repaired! Otherwise yes I would go glass!

Engineering says wide flange and integrated base will be much stronger than two round plugs. I've got it in my latest boards and it's a nice looking box.

I have three twinnies. All glassed fins. Never tried a fin system because they look shonky for twins. Your experience backs that up.

Six channel double flyer twin fin with a four inch swallow. Just saying.

Even keel fish twinnies are fine but...do yourself a favour...

It's no more inconvenient than damaging a plug or fin in a fin system. Fin systems are good for tuning in your board, but there isn't a lot of difference in the hassle of repairing damage - it's always painful.

I love fins, love changing them etc and love FCS.....BUT.... If you really want a twin you and want to love your twinny, for being a twinny...don't be half arsed about it, get those baby's glassed on!

if you really want something removeable go futures. Having said that I've never had futures.....but I say that given there's so much base strength in the futures box as opposed to a couple of tabs on Fcs....think force excerted on the two (FCS and Future base and ponder) ...

You don't get Single fins for FCS plugs for a very good reason, twins aren't much different, a lot of force concentrated on a singular surface area.

Glass them in for best results.

had fcs...kept coming loose on a MR supertwin...then got advised to use futures on my latest fish, and no problems

I want this board just to have find that look this good!!!

Replacing 3 stolen surfboards and the only way to do it is to make them ourselves.
Looking at the price of fins/sets and I realized i was well out the loop there. It a whole new industry.
One sixth the cost min it seems. Looking OS at the prices.
So with postage from china i'm at about 55 dollars and i can get 5" Surfblanks MF Thruster Set for 64 dollars at surfblanks.....

Anybody know where to get a good price on thruster/futures fin boxs or the like... any scoop on them.
Thinking of using 7.2 volan cloth too for boards.

Mark Stone in Geraldton uses Surf Finz boxes in his windsurf wave boards. I would think a windsurf board would place a lot more stress on the finbox than a surfboard. They are compatible with fcs and futures fins
