And I'm 6 ft and too close to 50 to be comfortable.
Surfing all my life in one form or another, surfing - kitesurfing- SUP so still pretty fit. But number two has got the surf bug for the last year and being out there on the SUP with her is not the same as on a board. So its been a while since I've been on a "surf" board other than a 6"9' glitter pink Roxy banger in the shed that was meant for number one but she didn't take to it and I can't find the right coloured "g-banger" to wear with glitter pink board.

So..... what are you guys that are around the 50Y - 90keg - 6Ft mark riding. I'm not really fussed as to whether it swallow, pin, squash thruster, quad etc. And I'll pretty much be using it for typical Goldie beachies.

Mid-length longboard shape: 8x22x3 1/4. Versatile with some glide for tiny waves, yet small enough to chuck around a bit.

I am 45 and 93.

The Queensland boys may have other suggestions.

I am going to be over there at Christmas and getting a couple of boards from TheSurfboardWarhouse. I have had a couple off them previously and have no complaints. I'll be looking at the Devocean.

Lots of other big-ish boards around though. 7S Superfish gets good reports.

I'm a few weeks off being 50yo and 5"10" sitting around 112kg... but fitter than the weight would suggest.

Just got a 7'6" Modern Lovechild which easily floats me and paddles really well, and is a lot looser than it looks (I'm running it as a quad but looking forward to running it as a single fin also).

I also surf a 7'3" 7S SuperFishXL V2 in epoxy, and occasionally a 9'1" McTavish Fireball Evolution.

Might I also add at this point , I'm not really interested in a mal type shape. Would rather a short board, but obviously not 5'10! But a larger version of the typical shape, ie 6'8" 21ish. 2.75-3.00. Or along those lines...

Look at the 7S range - the SuperFish etc... they go from 6'0" to 7'6"... I've got two of them, my mate also has the latest version 3 and is happy with it.

i am 52.. 84 kg..I ride this sort of shape www.okesurfboards.com/our-boards/new-boards/ellipse/

..dims are 6'6-21''-2 5/8..took it to Bali a couple of months ago, surfed reefs, beachies and it went very well.
If i put on some extra kegs 90+ I would go for longer and little bit wider may be, say, 6.8 or 7.0-21 1/2"-2 5/8"..I don't like wide tails, quads and anything thicker than 2 5/8"..but that's just me..I haven't been surfing "all my life" though..but kinda surprised at people who have and still don't know what they want

Fair comment, the one about not knowing what I want. But I did say in one form or another and for the last 3 years it has been SUP, and before that kiting and before that surfing. I mean I have gone out from time to time on this or that for the odd surf. Lately its been the glitter pink 10 year old roxy board. I was just putting it out there as to what others with similar stats to me were using to maybe get a semi realistic starting point to begin looking for something.

Edit: And since when was 90Kg a big bloke? I certainly wouldn't call myself a big bloke compared to some other units around

Not at all but what you want is a board bigger than what most punterz would ride because of age and whatevef else you said and even a etc....so a big version of a sbort board is generally a big boys shorty. Good luck pal

If cash was no problem i would have a couple of these in the quiver maybe even a little shorter than indicated
http://shop.firewiresurfboards.com/products/omni
www.naturalnecessity.com.au/firewire-surfboards-slater-designs-sci-fi-lft-surfboard.html
6"2 in the scifi gets approx 38l
6'0 in the omni gets you 40l

my current shortboard is 6'3 x19 3/4 x 2 3/4 no idea of the litreage although i would suspect
it is around 32 -35 just guess and .....yep i am past the half century !
some of the surf shops have demos now and will take the board hire off the price of the new board worth a try !

I won't bother adding my opinion on actual board models or sizes as you already have enough good advice above but I will say that if you are unsure of what you need look for a couple of cheap second handers rather than buying new. You should be able to get 2 decent boards for the price of a new stick and it should be easy enough to move any that don't work out on for a minimal (if any) loss
