I don't have a set but have been considering getting some side bites. Will this make the single surf more like a thruster? or does it just provide better hold?

Cheers all!

Hope we got a few little peelers this weekend!

This is a single fin video... The Tracker! By adding side bites, you will hybridise a Single Fin... It will probably help it surf a little bit more like a regular shortboard...

But, if it was shaped as a Single Fin, I would suggest you just leave it as a single fin... But it is also super fun experimenting...

I think someone once told me that Side bites help break the track of the single fin. Naturally a single fin wants to go straight and if you put some side in and cause of the angle of the fin etc it will make it looser.

The smaller the sides and bigger the single the more like a single it will be. The closer the fins are in size the more like a thruster it will be.

^ not really off the bottom. Single don't really slide out. Unless there isn't enough fin area.
Which will happen with 3 fins aswell
Maybe it's cause The single fin doesn't cause as much lift as 3 fins.

They do provide extra drive off the top though.
And most likely give you a tighter turning arc
