Hey guys I'm having the most difficult time deciding what board to buy, I live in Southern California and have been riding for a few months. Got the hang of things and my buddy is letting me ride his 6'3 spyder with 34L volume. I've been going back and forth wether I should get the JS blak box 2 HYFI or the Channel Islands Sampler. What do you guys think would be better, or if you suggest something else besides those two I could consider it. It's so hard to choose!

At this stage your not going to tell the difference.... Get a cheap second hand board that's wide with lots of volume and a strong leggie... Surf every day on it for at least a year then worry about a new board for next Christmas....

If you have been surfing for 2 months neither of the boards you are considering would be any good for you. These boards may be suited to you once you are of a reasonable level but at this stage will only hamper your progress. Like benny said buy a big, fat second hand board and get out there and practice. It won't look as good when your carrying out down the beach but will be way better in the water

Get yourself a nice set of golf clubs and hit the links with all your mates every weekend.

Surfing is over-rated anyway!

+3 for the second handy. Or if you really want to spend the money, a similar voluminous newbie.

Blak Box for sure. the board revolutionized my surfing. having lots of volume helped me catch lots of waves and improve lots!
