Good mate of mine who I surf with often has both - in 6'6" and 6'7" and loves them... he's a 'good' surfer of about 90kg and surfs 2-3ft beachies mostly... but also rides the 4-5ft stuff when he can.

He reckons that they are fast and loose... he's played with the fins a bit, but I couldn't be specific about what he's settled on.

ive had and got a webber afterburner epoxy and hire one when i go to the goldie
6'3 magic carpet for me especially in beachies (especially what Perth serves up) but goes good in reef waves with some grunt, uluwatu stricko etc ( im 6'4 and 85-90kg)

a mate has a webber one and loves it in same conditions as above

cant go wrong if you get either

I've got two Webber boards, a 6'3 mini fish and a 6'9 Pulse (the re-named fatburner).

I'm 93kgs and a below average surfer :) Boards are both used mainly around the metro beach breaks with the odd excursion further south.

Both are super light, loose and quite fast. Only issue would be the SLX construction, If i sneeze too hard I get deck depressions, and I cant carry these boards on the roof racks as the pressure from straps cracks the rails. Both boards have had 1cm splits along the rails that i have had to patch.

Great boards to ride, but i can't see them lasting too many seasons...

LS - if you trawl these threads you'll find a couple discussing SLX... making similar comments...

I have a McT LB that I only dust off on small or fat days and the deck compressions are terrible around the knee and rear foot area - and it has split for about 10cm along the stringer... this board has barely done any miles at all... whereas my everyday board - although a GSI Thai board is in reasonable knick after 2.5years and plenty of use. I don't think I'd go SLX again.

i had 2x afterburner 6 6 - 180cm + 85kg
initial one was surftech model

then got delta to copy in eps/epoxy

great board, bit wider as a semi fish, but with good bottom shape
a bit more boaty than some

ride in all surf gnaraloo to scabs
cant fault them for me, experienced surfer but only go out occasionally now

extra width makes up volume so dont need to go as thick,

recommended

the one different beast i think but dont have one to comment

Cheers for the replies guys, hmmm what to get?? up north working atm so ill pop into a shop when i get back and have a look at em both, i recently bought a 2nd hand a 6' fatburner , just feels a little bit short for me or it might just take abit of time getting used to it, my usual board is a 6'4, 2 3/8,19 . Want to stay around the same length i think, but around 2 1/2 thick , Im 6ft and 85kg and average surfer. So many boards out there its hard to make abloody choice haha

Cheers mocha1 , afterburner is lookin the goods,, but ive just seen a board by webber called "the print" which is apparently pretty much an afterburner with a square tail instead of a swallow and maybe a bit more rocker through the board i think,,, Dammitt haha, hopefully they have them in stock so i can see for myself.......

I recon square tails are generally better than swallows.
