Yeah - I logged on to say something similar to the thread title. The NZ policeman's actions were fairly amazing - 20 shots ?!

I didn't think that NZ general duties police carried guns though.

Still a shame about the young guy who lost his life.

The worst part was once again the shark had been reported to be in the area as little as the day before..Surely there has to be a better system to pass that message onto people

He probably had to go get his gun out of the boot of the patrol car, then go hijack a lifeguards boat. Lucky in NZ we dont have regulations around doing stupid ** like that haha.

Pretty sad for the guy attacked, and I think one of my school groups was at that beach yesterday, lucky they didn't see the incident, or they'd never get back in the water!
