Hey guys, seen it a few times in the recent comps, people waxing the top of their feet/foot before heading into the water. Can anyone explain this to me? Waxing the TOP of their feet, not the soles.

I don't get it.

I can explain my theory to it, don't know if it is why they do it though. If I surf nasty reef, I usually try to wear a pair of booties. I usually only do it at Rotto. In this situation as you'd know, you want as much grip on the board as possible and when wearing booties, sometimes the feel is not as good (especially in summer when your board usually has warmer warter wax which is firmer). So I wax up the top of the booties and walk over the nasty reef and sand. Then when I am out there, i rub the top of one boot onto the bottom of the other, then vica versa. If you did it any other way, the wax on your booties would come off as you walk over the sand and reef.

That's the way I do do, but I don't know if that's the number one reason behind it.

Geoffro's onto it.

Pro's will rub there feet together as described above to get a bit more traction.

I guess there's a bit more on the line for them than us part time worriors!

Yeah I probably only do it once or twice a year. Rarely wear boots and wax them even more rarely.

If its cold I just put my board in the sand and stand on it and do the twist for a couple of seconds. Works well

Spot the guy who doesn't have an SLX board :)

Whatever happened to the good old lump of wax in the key pocket routine?
