Recently bought a sleeveless vest as I got caught out with my normal rashie being pulled up and over my head mid-wipeout. Vest is great for taking care of torso rash, but now I'm having difficulties addressing the issue of overarm rash. Have tried applying vaseline to reduce the paddle induced friction, but didn't work. Any other suggestions?

Don't wipe out ....just kidding mate, I dunno. Only time I get a rash is my inside legs with long boardies. I stopped wearing long boardies Maybe the vest sux, maybe a springy would be better. Maybe you have the wrong size & its too loose or your allergic to the material used. Dunno I don't get a rash from my steamer, springy or long sleeve vest & clock up some hours in them.

After years of trial and error, i've found that by far the best thing for underarm chafe/rash is sunscreen.

Rub it under your arms before a surf and you'll have no problems. If you apply it to an existing rash it will sting like a bastard, but you won't feel your rash any more once you're in the water.

Banana Boat 50+ is my usual go-to stuff in Indo. Funnily enough though the cheap stuff goes great. The slimier the better - just give your hands a good scrub with wet sand before paddling out.

Banana Boat has been in the news recently as having suspect sun protection... Perhaps it is best as a rash preventer.

Any cream from the nappy rash section is usually good. Amolin, Bepanthum and Curash are all good
