Heyo

Just updating you guys on my first repair (leash pull through). Picked up a kit from Dave at Katana. Cheers for the free leash plug + extra fibre glass mate.

Unfortunately I ran out of resin due to using way too much in the beginning. My question is, can i surf my board tomorrow? I've got 1 layer over the exposed foam on the bottom of the board but theres nothing on the top, just rock hard resin. What you guys thinking?

No mate. I wouldn't, if it let's any water in it could start to delaminate .
That was some serious pressure on your leggie to do that. What happened?
Repair looks good so far

Ha ha, that's full on! I can't say I've ever seen that before.

Oz is right, have patience. Sand it back to get the excess off then go more glass. Have you used cloth on the deck?
Give it another sand, then a gloss coat, sand again, then off to the local shop to get a replacement board.

Edit* No, no glass on deck... You are super keen.

Two observations

1) Needs more glass and some cloth as buster said.
2) (bad advice) if it's sealed and you don't really care it'll give you a couple months use before waterlogged and beyond repair, some boards only ever get a half repair and than get ridden to death, sort of like a Valhalla Viking ending.

3) I don't know what leash you have but I personally will never buy the wire centre ones as they do not stretch or break. Leashes are supposed to break if the are stiff with no stretch there is no give and when the lip hits your board ..... elbreako....
additionally getting a wire corded leash wrapped around your neck could result in similar damage as seen on the board.

please share leash leash design/brand/photo

As per the type of legrope, it's just an FCS 6ft one I bought in margs a while ago. Seaweed got stuck to it and a wave moved my board in a position where the weight of the seaweed pulled through the board

Where is the glass?

Why is it so white? You sure Dave didn't give you polyfilla for the shower instead. I presume it's got microballoons for filler. I'd also not surf it. I'd sand the filler back flush and glass over it with cloth and clear resin. And then put it on the verge.

The white is Q Cell mixed with resin. The glass is on the bottom but not on the top (Deck) of board

Wow yeah thats full on, never seen a legrope do anything remotely similar to that. I wouldn't surf it unless it was the only board I had & the surf was good. I'd break out the tape or wax. I was pretty good at losing fins when I was a grom in the 80's & often ended up surfing my thrusters as a twinnie coz I hadn't got a new fin & fixed it before the next good surf day. I'd just tape up the hole where the fin had been. People would say, jeez that boards pretty loose lol...but anyway, yeah my advice, tape it up if you have too, otherwise just surf another board & have that one as a spare.
