went to trigg 3rds this morning, wasnt very shapely, but had a go anyway. unwisely chose a few poor waves and got a bit shaken underwater. after a few waves like this i decided to make sure the underside of my board was ok. to my shock there was a circular compression just to the left of the dhd logo. on the boarder of the compression is cracks in the glass - pretty much on the stringer. i felt it and couldnt actually feel the cracks, but they still could be letting water in. also found a compression on the top right of the underside - maybe 20cm from the tip of the nose. never had these compressions on the underside of the board before (not as bad though). i really love the board and want to use it until it cant be used anymore. i need some opinions please... do you think i should go and get it fixed so that the underside is smooth again or should i just put some instant fibreglass lightly on the cracks or what?

its so sad to watch your board deteriorate...

You should see my collection of busted boards. Enough to make a grown man weep.

Without seeing photos of the damage it's kind of hard to say. If it is how I am picturing it, maybe sand it back a bit, brush on a thin coat of solar resin and sand her smooth again.

If you cant feel then generally they will be water tight, but sometimes they are not. I use silver duct tape for emergency repairs and for small stuff solares.
With some cracks I have dug them out a bit so the resin gets right into the crack.
Did the board hit you at all?

hopefully that gives you a clear enough idea. watcha reckon? the cracks are pretty much on the stringer; thats what im most concerned about - strength, etc. a guy snapped his board just down the beach from me just after i realised my board had the new damage. that got me thinking.

thats definately hit something luckily its going down the board not across , there looks like no structural damage but sand it back and glass it before the water delams your dhd tissue below the glass.

oh yeh, forgot to mention the board didnt hit me at all, but i have a sneaking suspicion it may have hit rocks coz as i was duck diving back out, i was diving into foam and didnt see how shallow it was - put the nose right into a mixture of sand and rocks. wasnt a very successful session.

so i wont effect the ride too much? i was thinking i should take it be made smooth again
