One of those Skate parks is the oldest remaining skatepark in the world too, since the Kona skatepark was demolished.
I used to spend a fair bit of time down there, it always used to surprise me some of the waves going unridden. 6 foot freight train barrels over sand and no body out, but the jaws music playing in my head and that unnerving feeling of being scoped out usually made for pretty short sessions.
Well the down hill park on Hare st is about 600 meters down from our house. Its scary, my daughter is so far the only one who has lost skin in a big way. There are signs up referring to a death or two as well.

If you walk it and get rid of the sticks and honky nuts first its not so bad..
I don't mind the beaches for big fish, its the currents and the fact that there's nothing between you and Antarctica many times

Maybe a PLB epirb would be the go

I really love my morning jog from the top of Hare st, around through the man street of town when, up around the point, down to Middleton and back up the hill to Mt Clarence..
I just bought my son his first Freeride (jump bike) and looking to find a down hill cross mountain bike for myself so we can enjoy Mt Clarence track to its fullest..
Oh and Albany Surf and skate would have to be one of my fav shops..
