View From a Blue Moon seems to be getting rave reviews all over.

Anyone know if it's being screened in Perth at all?

Emailed the people that made it. Got a reply this morning, no seems to be the answer. Advice was to check up with movie website. Only says Sydney on that one and going by the other places it's showing, Perth is not going to happen.

The last two good surf flicks I have enjoyed were spirit of akasha (probably spelt it wrong) unbelievablefootage and single fin surfing in it

And Dane reynolds, cant remember the name but it was sick....

Watched VFABM this morning and to be honest was a little put off by the cheesy seppo narration. Cinematography and surfing is amazing but as with all surf films these days there's too many quick shots of a single move. I like to see whole waves from paddle in to kick out. I think the claims of best surf movie of all time are a bit rich

Typical hype eh, guess they wanna make some money ...I don't mind a bit of cheesy narration, "you should have been here yesterday" that video above was working then haha Some narration can make a vid classic...but yeah I agree, I don't like too much segments of waves, loathe the slow mo & repetitive scenes, no matter how big or how hollow the wave. I like video's that show the journey, not just wave after wave if the video is over 7 mins...like this vid

I was really looking forward to movie. It was beautifully shot and edited plus the surfing is off the planet , but even with all that it was just missing a story line or something to bring it all together. I still really enjoyed it but was expecting a lot more.

Nice Vid above Mick

I watched this flick the other night whilst having a few binny's and find it hard to disagree with Piros. It had some amazing surfing in it - you wonder why he does not do a bit more of that stuff in his heats? It had pretty much no story line - just a bunch of nicely shot surf from all over the show. Even the transitions between locations was poor -just a small quote from JJF on the screen - not one voice over. I am not really a fan of surf movies - find them boring. This one could have been a lot better with just a bit more effort. The Dec issue of Surfer is dedicated to JJF in the hope that this "could be the greatest surf movie ever made." I think that it has definitely failed to live up to their expectation whilst my expectations were low going into it - so I was not that disappointed but would have preferred to spend the time doing something else.

Watched it last night. I enjoyed the first 9 1/2 mins of him surfing as a grom with his family. Then there was 6 mins of artsy fartsy cinematic footage with the opening credits. The rest of the film up to the 51 min mark (another 35mins) was interspersed with extended length artsy fartsy footage which diminished the overall quality of the film from a surfers perspective imo. That along with the soundtrack made it a watch once video, not the kinda surf vid your gonna psych up for an onshore winter surf. JJF is an awesome surfer & the video is worth watching...if you cut out all the cinematic filler footage & added your own music it could be great...

I was hoping for more big, blue, gaping barrel stuff. I know the new school techniques are heavily revolving aerials and such, but they're best done on rather ordinary waves in what the average surfer would call ordinary conditions. Like the kind of stuff that you and I wouldn't bother with unless we were desperate. JJ's moves are phenomenal, but those kinds of films are equally as much about escapism for the audience as they are gawking at pro talent. The movie didn't provide as much of the escapism/excitement as they did prove the lad is a major party of the progressive movement which meant I felt my attention drifting. Seems the sentiment around here is much the same.

Seen both vfabm and psychedelic migration. Psychedelic migration kills it, for locations and veriaty of surfing. Killer sound track too. Ryan birch goes nuts on a self shaped twin. Jj's movie reinforced that he his a freak surfer ..but the movie just seemed same same. . Jj- same same. And once i see more than one air reverse my attention starts to drift. I appreciate the skill, but **** they are ****.
