check out http://www.swimman.com.au/shop/product/gen-4-2gb-blue-swimman-package/

They take an ipod nano 2GB and completely waterproof it. Their ear buds are quality as well. I bought this package about a year and a half ago for swimming laps. Amazing quality of sound in the water! The ear buds have triple flanges that create a nice seal. I did my research and swimman came out on top. The only complaint I would make, and it's a small one, is that when I received the package in the post, the flanges on the left ear bud were kind of squished and flat rather that symmetrical and round from having weight placed on them in transit. While it's not an issue at first, after about 45 min- an hour while swimming, that side leaks a bit of water in and distorts the music. Like I said though, it's a small complaint on an otherwise very well working product. That's also including med-fast paced swimming and flip turns. I've been told you can get an antibiotic ointment to apply around the flanges that will prevent water leaking in, but I have yet to find a chemist that understands what I'm after. I keep getting told to buy wax plugs.

No offence but why??????????????? isn't half the experience of surfing is hearing and being in tune with the ocean. the sound of a barrel coming over you isn't something you can download off iTunes. Just saying

Totally agree Mitts, was thinking it could be cool on those days when your not surfing. Just had to say something when peeps were suggesting spending $230 on stuff you can get heaps cheaper.

Which one Ted? There's a bunch of them on there.

I guess you mean the one at the top of the results. A couple of others look ok, I wouldn't mind getting one for chilling in the pool with a beer

Bullsta71 asked a question and I just answered it as I have first-hand knowledge of what he is after. I don't personally take it into the surf and actually agree that the sound of the ocean is part of the experience. I use it for swimming laps; one of the best things I have done. Swimming 3-4 kilometers can get very monotonous and music makes it much much easier.

In response to the rip-off comment, I did the research and found that most other mp3 players/ear buds were crap. Swimman is not the cheapest, but I would say they are far from being a rip-off. As with most things, you get what you pay for. The main reason for the higher price is the ipod itself. Even if you bought another mp3 player, it would be worth purchasing their ear buds as they are comfortable, clip on easily to your goggle straps and are great quality. They were the only company that continually received great reviews for providing a quality mp3 player and ear buds that provide quality sound. Some other brands use the bone conduction, others use waterproof ear buds as well, but most don't last long or are uncomfortable. I have been using mine now for about a year and a half and have experienced no deterioration in quality aside from the original minor complaint that I mentioned before.

Anyway that's my rant.

Whats even worse is signing along with the music whilst swimming laps. That didn't work too well
