Bumped into a couple of Israeli's at Sultans one year. I politely suggested that as we were all on a holiday, it would be nice of them to respect the drop in and snaking code. The guy shrugged his shoulders and said: when you go back to work, you have to deal with a broken photocopier. When I go back to work there will be people trying to kill me. I will take any wave that I want.......
Sounds like a fun trip

A different attitude on life, that's for sure. Fortunately it was only the one day that we were at the same place...
Love the Maldives. Warm water surfing, can't beat it.
Was he as bad as he sounds? Did he drop in or was it bravado?
He was a bad as he sounds. Drop in, snake , paddle in front when positioning. A guy who I didn't know, saw what was happening to most of the crew out there decided to return the serve; when the Israeli guy took off on a set wave, he dropped in on a huge mal, went straight and explained to the bloke to expect more of the same if he didn't pul his head in! It was a case of swift justice.
Zilla's are wonderful in comparison to Israelis in the water. As a rash generalisation "oxygen thieves" Have never come across a good one in the water, plenty onshore, top people, but not in the water overseas. Probably frothing for some waves after national service but either way, don't seem to care about any other soul in the water.
Late 90's a good buddy had a run in with some in Sri Lanka. Read two of them the riot act for being pricks in the water. When he went in they were waiting for him on the beach. Unfortunately for them, he just happened to be a life long exponent of Zen Do Kai, unfortunately for him there were quite a number of them staying in the same area and a collective revenge was coordinated a couple of nights later whilst he was asleep with is girlfriend.
He was pretty sore for a few weeks after that, apparently she still suffers nightmares.
